The lecture will focus on some of the key themes in Iqbal’s classic work, The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam, to see how they can offer us certain ideas about a new philosophical language.  This new philosophical language or perspective, shows a way out of the current philosophical crisis that we are facing in the West. After studying Iqbal’s philosophy for over a decade and translating two of his books, (including The Reconstruction), into Italian, Lei concludes that Iqbal, as a universal philosopher with very innovative ideas, has much to offer even now, over 80 years after his death.

Speaker: Dr Sabrina Lei, Director of Tawasul International Centre for Publishing, Research and Dialogue, Rome, is an emerging Italian Muslim philosopher and thinker. She has translated over 25 Muslim classics into Italian as well as written five books, including a biography of the prophet Muhammad.
